On a cool blustery late Saturday morning at Joe Wilson Field, the Clyde High School girls softball team erupted for four runs in bottom half of the third inning to defeat Toledo Bowsher, 7-4.
The Lady Fliers’ key hit came from the bat of Maddie Montgomery in the home half of the fourth. It broke open a 2-2 tie and led to a commanding 6-2 lead.
Montgomery wound up with two hits along with Maddy Young and Sydnee Helms. The winning pitcher was Hunter Schwochow.
Field and weather conditions cause the second scheduled game with Toledo St. Ursula to be postponed.
The Flier softball squad is now 3-1 thus far into the season.
