The Clyde boys tennis team split a pair of matches last week by defeating Edison, 4-1, and falling Port Clinton, 3-2.
Last Tuesday, the Fliers traveled to Edison to take on the Chargers and notched the victory.
In the first singles match, Edison’s James Hill picked up the only win for the home team by defeating Nathan Strudthoff, 6-1, 6-0.
Caleb Prunty won the second singles match for the Fliers, 6-2, 6-1, over Ben Bursley. Jacob Strudthoff won the third singles match for Clyde by defeating Nick Shupe, 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles action, Clyde’s Noah Prunty and Alex Brandon took the first doubles match (6-1, 4-6, 6-2) over Connor Goodwin and Nick Lombardi. Cole Foos and Scott Clapp won the second doubles match over Nathan Zettler and Bryan Johnston, 6-3, 6-3.
The following day the Fliers traveled to Port Clinton and lost a tough match.
In first doubles, Nathan Strudthoff defeated Andrew Fillmore, while Caleb Prunty took the second doubles match over Thomas Keville, 6-2, 6-1.
In third singles, Port Clinton’s Jacob Koch defeated Jacob Strudthoff, 4-6, 6-7 (4).
Noah Prunty and Brandon lost, 2-6, 1-6, to Port Clinton’s Tristan Auxter and Dean Colston, while Foos and Clapp lost to Ashton Barton and Steve Kast in straight sets, 3-6, 3-6.
