A balanced offensive attack last Tuesday night led the Fliers girls basketball team dominant win over Huron in Sandusky Bay Conference play, 59-24.

The Tigers kept things close in the early going, only trailing Clyde by two at the end of the opening period, 10-8.

It was a different story in the second quarter.

Sophomore Heidi Marshall’s seven points in the second quarter paced the Fliers and helped the team out score Huron 16-7 in the quarter. By halftime, Clyde was comfortably ahead, 26-15.

In the second half, the Fliers went from being comfortably ahead to dominant. Clyde outscored the Tigers 33-9 in the second half, putting up 17 and 16 points in the third and fourth quarters, respectively.

The Tigers were held to six points in the third and three in the fourth quarter.

Junior center Addie Martin led the Fliers in scoring with 10 points. Marshall, junior Melissa Laconis, junior Lillian Royster and senior Brandyce Wott each scored seven for Clyde.

Junior Morgan Bannister finished the game with six.

The Fliers finished the game with three 3-pointers — senior Kennedy Arndt, sophomore Maddie Greenslade and Marshall each scoring one — and shot 10-of-15 from the free-throw line.
