CLYDE — After dropping their first four games of the season, the Clyde Fliers boys basketball team got a much needed win against Oak Harbor last Friday night.
Clyde took out any frustration to the slow start of the season on the Rockets, dominating the visiting team, 70-29.
The Fliers took control of the game early and by halftime had a stranglehold on the game, leading 41-13. Clyde continued its dominance in the second half en route to putting up the most points it has so far this season.
The Fliers were led by Zach Rieman on the night, with the senior guard scoring a team-high 17 points. Junior forward Lucas Nicely chipped in 13 in the winning effort.
Seth Homan scored nine points for the Fliers, while Jake Jenne and Conner Long each added seven. Tanner Davenport finished with six points, and Matt Baker scored five.
Nathan Strudthoff, Derrik Harrah and Noah Prunty rounded out the scoring for Clyde, with each scoring two points.The win came after the Fliers had dropped a game to Vermilion the previous Tuesday night, 64-37. The loss marked the fourth straight to begin the season.The Fliers were expected to start a bit slow on the season with the team being unable to practice much prior to the beginning of the season due to the football team making a run in the playoffs.The Fliers will next host Bellevue on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Clyde High School.
