Clyde Fliers’ hot shooting scorches St. Joe

Temperatures dropped to their lowest numbers of the winter Monday but inside the Fremont St. Joe gym, the Clyde Fliers boys basketball team was scorching the nets as they raced out to a 17-3 first quarter lead on way to a decisive 56-27 win. Leading all scorers was Lucas Nicely with 14, while senior Zach Rieman and junior Tanner Davenport chipped in with 13 points each.

The Streaks seemed to have no answer to the Flier pressure in the first quarter. Numerous turnovers led to several easy buckets for the blue and gold.

The Fliers will need to keep the pressure and defense up Friday night when they host always tough Huron. Game time will be 4:30 p.m. with the freshmen Fliers leading off the hoops’ triple header.

The JV team also had an easy time with their big win over St. Joe.
