The Clyde girls basketball team wrapped up the 2015 portion of its schedule on a positive note last week.
The Fliers crushed Huron, 54-21, with a suffocating defensive performance that had the Tiger scratching their heads most of the night.
Morgan Bannister was the leading scoring on the night, outscoring the Tigers herself with 23 points. Bannister hit two field goals, six 3-pointers and wend 1-for-3 from the free-throw line to guide Clyde to the win.
Bree Dowling chipped in 10 points and went a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. Addie Martin and Heidi Marshall added seven and five points, respectively.
The Fliers set the tone early in the game by holding the Tigers scoreless in the opening quarter to take a commanding 16-0 lead heading into the the second quarter.
The Tigers finally got on the board in the second quarter, but were unable to get into double digits in any quarter, as Clyde held Huron to eight, seven and six points in the second, third and fourth quarters, respectively.
Sarah Neibler led the Tigers in scoring with 10 points, while no other Huron player scored more than three points in the game.
“It was a good way to close out the 2015 portion of the season,” Clyde coach Dave Lozier said.
